Narrative

DAVIDSON COUNTY, TN – Two women, ages 24 and 25, lost their lives late last Saturday, August 3, as a result of a two-vehicle collision near RiverGate Mall in Goodlettsville.

Metro Nashville Police Department officials said the fatal incident unfolded at the corner of Gallatin Pike North and Cude Lane, northeast of Nashville. By 11:30 p.m., both victims–a 24-year-old woman from Illinois and a 25-year-old woman from Missouri–were pronounced deceased at the scene.

A preliminary investigation found that the suspect, 26, was driving a Jeep Cherokee on Cude Lane, coming out from the RiverGate Mall area, when he failed to stop and yield at a flashing red light at the intersection. Moments later, his Jeep collided with a Ford Focus occupied by the two women.

While the suspect initially fled the crash site on foot, he returned and was subsequently taken into custody. Investigators noted that the Jeep’s speedometer was jammed between 50 and 60 mph, and that multiple open containers of alcohol were recovered from the vehicle.

The suspect, who had been arrested and convicted of impaired driving in 2023, faces multiple charges following Saturday’s crash, including two counts of vehicular homicide by intoxication and vehicular assault. He is being held on a $332,500 bond.
