Narrative

DAVIDSON COUNTY, TN – Metro Nashville Police responded to a two-vehicle wreck last Saturday, August 3, in northwest Nashville that claimed the life of a 48-year-old man and injured multiple other people, including a toddler and a teenager.

The accident happened at the intersection of Knight Drive and Ewing Drive, south of Briley Parkway (TN-155), near the city’s Claymile Station neighborhood.

Officials said the 48-year-old man was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Impala when he failed to stop at a stop sign before trying to turn left. The Impala was struck on the driver’s side by a FedEx tractor-trailer moments after entering the truck’s path.

The driver of the Impala, who had to be extricated from the wreckage, later succumbed to his injuries at an area hospital.

A 3-year-old child from the Impala suffered life-threatening injuries and was also rushed to the hospital. The vehicle’s two other occupants, a 36-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl, were also injured, though the extent of their injuries was not immediately apparent.

No injuries to the truck driver or anyone else were reported.

An investigation remains underway, but impairment is not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
